The homework videos that follow will help you be successful in the next puppy class and throughout your puppies journey to adulthood. The more you practice, the better the results. We know life gets in the way, do what you can we will help you with the rest!
What’s after puppy classes?
Your puppy has been equipped with all the basic skills they need to be successful – that being said, your family and your puppy have a long way to go with lots of things to learn along the way. Just like humans, learning never stops. People who actively enjoy helping their dogs learn new things are the happiest with their dogs in the long run.
We encourage you to continue in our program over the coming months. Your puppies are welcome to continue training on a weekly basis in a “school” style structure. How does it work?
Tuesdays – enrolled dogs arrive between 6a-9a to train, play and grow in their experiences overnight.
Wednesday – pickup between 3p-6p
Thursday – pickup between 3p-6p
HOMEWORK VIDEOS:
“Kennel & Come” – learning to politely stay and be calm in a confined space like a vehicle, outdoor fence, bedroom, etc.
“Sit-Down-Sit-Stand-Down-Stand” – learning focus, vocabulary and building the muscles needed to grow into a strong dog – used later to develop off leash reliability.
“Door work” – learning to politely wait at doorways, gates, vehicle doors for the safety of your knees (grandparents) and your dog – getting hit by a vehicle in front of your house is a tragically common way dog’s die in our area.
“On/Off” – conquering insecurities with space and surfaces – long term building a solid “stay” – this video demonstrates a dog who is a little nervous – your dog may take to it quickly – try a variety of surfaces like plastic, gravel, totes, books, etc.
